The Cyclades are a popular destination in Greece and one of the best destinations all over the world for yacht charters, ideal for sailing with family and friends.

The Cyclades are a complex of islands in the middle of the Aegean Sea. They were named as “Cyclades” from the word “cycle” because they spread in a circle around Delos, one of the most sacred places in ancient Greece. Kea, Kythnos, Sifnos, Serifos and Milos are located in the outer ring, while Mykonos, Paros, Naxos, Ios and Santorini are the most famous islands of the inner ring, only a few hours away from Athens.

The Cyclades are famous for their sandy beaches and their crystal-clear blue waters. With white and blue as the dominant colors, the Byzantine architecture is simply admirable. The history of the place is preserved even in the most remote alleys.

Yacht chartering is a perfect way to explore secluded berths, especially if you want to relax and enjoy the endless blue of the sea. With small remote islands offering incomparable privacy and larger islands full of opportunities for all kinds of activities, the Cyclades have everything needed to excite any visitor.

When is the best time to sail in the Cyclades?

The climate in the Greek islands of Cyclades is typical of the Mediterranean climate: mild and rainy winters, relatively hot and dry summers and, generally, extended periods of sunshine throughout most of the year. During the warm and dry periods, the weather is usually stable, the sky is clear, the sun is bright, and there is generally no rainfall. The warm period starts in April and lasts until the end of October. The warmest period occurs during June, July and August, when fresh sea breezes temper the high temperatures are tempered by fresh sea breezes in the country's coastal areas of the country and from the north winds, known as ''Meltemi'', strong winds blowing mainly in the Aegean sea.

What kind of yacht should we charter for the Cyclades?

Your sailing holiday can be tailored to your preferences. Details such as how many people are you sailing with and if there are couples traveling together or single guests that require private cabins will determine the type and size of boat we recommend. You can choose a catamaran, for more luxurious and comfortable vacations, ideal if you are traveling with small kids. Catamarans are bigger boats, and they need the experience to navigate, especially in the peak of “Meltemi" winds, so it is suggested to have a skipper on board. You can choose a mono hull sailboat, for a more exciting and adventurous trip with a "real sailing feeling”, perfect for island hopping and easy to dock in the small marinas of Cyclades.

I am afraid I might get seasicksea-sick. Is sailing in the Cyclades an easy trip?

Sailing in the Cyclades is not like sailing in the Atlantic. With more than thirty islands and sheltered coves available, if there is a day with strong wind and you don't feel comfortable sailing, you stay in port, swim, eat, drink, and see the island's sights that the island has to offer. When the wind is tame, you sail a few hours, find a lovely nice cove to swim, sail a little more, and be you are in the next port. Most of the Cycladic islands are between 2 and 4 hours of sailing apart, so relief is always nearby even if you get sick.
